As the fog rolls into San Francisco these August evenings, I know that summer is slipping through our fingertips. To say goodbye to summer properly, my dear friend and fellow blogger, @whippedupwhimsy suggested to do a crab boil this past weekend. I had never been to one, let alone hosted one. But of course, in the spirit of party planning, I said "let's do it!"
4 Things I Learned from my First-ever Crab Boil:
- Get a big pot. I mean BIG. I mean 20-quart sized pot. I picked one up at Ross and it's the best purchase I have made this year. We named her affectionately, "Marta."
- Put down a paper table cloth followed with a layer of newspaper on your dining table to soak up all the juices from your boil. This will make for the easiest dinner party cleaning of your life (aka roll it all up and trash it)!
- Put your mason jars to use! Roll napkins into them. Put your crab crackers in them. Put forks in a mason jar. USE THEM OR LOSE THEM.
- Have a talented baker friend as a party guest and she'll make you a wonderful blackberry pie for your guests. Thanks @whippedupwhimsy!
